WHO IS THIS FOR?

The course is open to all LBS students and counts as a full-credit course (equivalent to 10 sessions). Note that you cannot enroll in the course as part of the elective bidding process. Instead, you need to apply separately using the link below. The course has a limited capacity of 40 students, so apply early to secure a spot.

Application deadline: 26 July 2021

PROGRAMME STRUCTURE

The course consists of five sessions spread over six months. You can see the dates for each session below. If you are planning to take the course, please block these dates in your calendar. Attendance in all five sessions is mandatory, and those who miss a session without an approved EC will fail the course.

The first session involves selecting the participating startups from the pool of applicants. During sessions 2 to 5, students observe the interactions between investors/industry experts and the startups, help startups with their presentations, and make the necessary arrangements with the startups assigned to them. Most of the work and learning in this course happens between the sessions. Each student will be assigned to work closely with a specific startup and to help its team to implement the feedback received from the panel of investors and experts. The tasks would vary depending on the experts’ feedback and can include developing a go-to-market strategy, creating a revenue model, developing a strategic plan, or assessing product-market fit. The startups that successfully progress through the course will have a chance to make an investment pitch to a panel of investors during the last session. Students will also support startups with preparing their pitch decks and presentations.

The course also provides ample opportunity for networking and finding career opportunities within the tech sector or the VC industry. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.

If you are interested in taking TEL, please make sure to block the following dates in your calendar. Participating in every session is mandatory. Students who miss a session without an approved EC will receive a failing grade. On top, you will be leaving the founders in a bad position by not showing up the day they are presenting and receiving feedback.

All sessions start with a networking breakfast between 8:15am-9:00am, followed by the actual session between 9:00am-11:30am, and ends with either a networking session or a workshop over lunch between 12pm-1pm. There will be some breaks during each session. The detailed session plans will be provided in due course. All the sessions will take place in the newly refurbished North Building at LBS.

  • Session 1: Thursday, Oct 21st, 2021

  • Session 2: Thursday, Dec 2nd, 2021

  • Session 3: Thursday, January 20th, 2022

  • Session 4: Thursday, March 10th, 2022

  • Session 5: Thursday, April 28th, 2022

The assessment will be based on students’ engagement throughout the course and a final report on one of the companies they engage with during the course. The first assignment involves assessing the applications by startups to the course. Next, a short progress report needs to be submitted halfway through the course. At the end of the course, students would write a reflective report on their journey and outline their learning based on their engagement with one of the startups. Finally, part of the grade will be decided based on the feedback from startup teams.
